Vinted Members Express Frustration Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
